Arriving in Malawi..
Malawian Airlines (which is operated by Ethiopian airlines) offers direct regional flights from Lusaka, Harare, Johannesburg, Dar es Salaam, Nairobi and Zanzibar. Connecting flights into Malawi can be made from Addis Ababa, Nairobi and Johannesburg via Ethiopian, Kenyan and South African airlines.
Malawi’s two international airports are Lilongwe Kamuzu International Airport (LLW) and Blantyre Chileka International Airport (BLZ). The conference will provide vehicles to greet attendees at either airport on 23 August 2017 and will transport passengers on 27 August 2017; however, you must submit your travel itinerary to the conference organizers at [email protected] or on the registration form.

Nationals from Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries and from the following countries, do not need a visa to enter Malawi.

In 2015, Malawi introduced a reciprocity visa scheme. This means visitors from certain countries must obtain a visa to visit Malawi. However, this visa can be purchased at the port of entry (Blantyre or Chileka airports) for most nations. A full list is available on the Malawi government’s immigration page.
The fee for entry is $75 USD per person. We advise that you bring the correct amount in cash with notes printed after 2005. Please download and print the Malawi immigration entry form to present to a border agent.

Liwonde National Park
The Liwonde National Park is perhaps the most popular of all the parks in Malawi, and it is about an hours drive from Zomba. The park boasts game viewing along the River Shire on its Western border. Wildlife includes elephants, hippos, and crocodiles. In addition Antelopes include kudu, sable and bushbuck; leopards, hyenas and lions can sometimes be spotted, as well as the Black rhino. For those who love to bird watch, there is an exceptional variation of our feathered friends. Accommodation is decent for those who would like to stay the night in the Mvuu Lodge and it is also close to the Mvuu campsite.

Lake Malawi is the pride and joy of the country. The Mangochi Lakeshore is about a two-hour drive north of Zomba. It includes the greatest concentration of lodges and hotels in the Southern lakeshore between Mangochi and Monkey Bay. Perfect for a weekend away from Lilongwe, this fascinating cultural centre is made up of several exhibitions, workshops and even a botanic garden. It provides insights into the histoiry and culture of Malawi through the Chamare Museum, the Carving Centre and the new Research Centre/Library. The museum describes the Chewa, Ngoni amd Yao cultures, their rites of passage, their interaction with one another and their encounter with Islam and Christianity.
